Become a Cheetah
o0o
The female cheetah Gamma nervously watched Shamu not far away.
They just looked at each other, both sizing up the other, neither making a move. Tata and Shamu's three children felt the tense atmosphere in the air, staying close to their mothers, not moving.
This was completely different from the situation when they encountered Luo Qiao and his sons. Tata could also feel Gamma's serious attitude.
Gamma, as the owner of the territory, would not allow any intruders to threaten the safety of her children, even if Sham didn't seem easy to mess with, Gamma would not retreat half a step.
Shamu and her children crossed the Gangsa River a week ago. The unfamiliar environment did not seem to have any impact on Shamu. She still lived well with her three cubs, and caught an adult female warthog the day before yesterday, and the mother and three cubs had a full meal.
But Shamu was still wary. This was not her territory, and she was cautious in both hunting and resting. The wild dogs would not leave her territory so quickly.
Before that, she would have to wander outside with her three cubs for a while. It was fine to avoid lions and hyenas. If she encountered her own kind, Shamu didn't mind saying hello.
Of course, if the other party wanted to fight, Sham would also accompany them. For cheetahs, only a fight could win hunting rights in the other party's territory.
But fighting was secondary. Sham came here mainly to see her maverick son.
"Hello, my name is Shamu."
Shamu had no intention of taking this small territory, nor did she plan to hunt here.
"I have no intention of taking your territory, nor will I harm your cubs. I'm just passing by."
Gamma looked at Shamu, still not relaxing her vigilance. She did not believe Sham's words. "Ah ah!"
Tata once again acted as a translator: "Mom says, if that's the case, please leave now."
Shamu fully understood the meaning of Gamma's call, but did not dislike Tata's redundancy. Perhaps because she had raised more than a dozen cubs, Sham was always very tolerant of cheetah cubs of Tata's age.
"Okay, I'll leave, but I want to ask you about something. Have you seen an evolved male cheetah with two cubs?"
An evolved male cheetah with cubs?
Gamma and Tata's minds simultaneously conjured up a figure. Tata looked up at her mother. Gamma narrowed her eyes.
Luo Qiao did not know that Shamu was looking for him on the grassland. He had been worried about food all week.
Luo Qiao's skill in setting traps was not high. All he knew were some of the simplest rope snares. After a herd of antelope had seen Luo Qiao's traps once, it became very difficult to catch them again.
What's more, because Luo Qiao and the Parson brothers had caught almost all large prey that were hartebeest during this period, a hartebeest herd living in the Parson brothers' territory suddenly launched a retaliatory attack on the five cheetahs.
Parson and Jairo's injuries had not yet healed, and Luo Qiao was carrying two cubs.
Facing the angry hartebeest, the five cheetahs could only flee in embarrassment.
Fortunately, this herd of hartebeest did not have to kill the cheetahs, otherwise, they would definitely become another unpopular gossip on the grassland, cheetahs ganged up by a herd of hartebeest, and they were evolved species!
Several cheetahs got rid of the hartebeest's pursuit and went to rest under a tree. Parson and Jairo could still hold on, but Luo Sen and Luo Rui were panting heavily.
Although they had grown a lot, their stamina and speed were still not as good as adult cheetahs.
Luo Qiao felt sorry for the two cubs and gathered them around him, licking this one and licking that one. The father and three sons rubbed against each other, comforting each other.
Jairo, who was lying on the side, clicked his tongue, while Parson licked his almost healed wounds.
Finally, the two cubs calmed down, and Parson and Jairo's injuries were basically fine. Luo Qiao and the Parson brothers, who were temporarily living together, began to discuss where to find their next meal.
Of course, the cheetahs would definitely not dare to try to catch hartebeest again at this stage.
Parson and Jairo had found several impalas during their patrol of the territory some time ago. Although most of the impalas had left this grassland, a few chose to stay, but their numbers were small and they were usually difficult to find.
Although the place where the impalas were found was several kilometers away from here, it was not a big problem for the cheetahs. Having made up their minds, the cheetahs decided to go find those impalas.
Unexpectedly, in the middle of the journey, a fragrant pie fell on their heads. An injured buffalo accidentally broke into Parson's territory and was lying in the tall grass less than fifty meters away from them!
Some of the buffalo's wounds had begun to fester, making it almost impossible to move. Even lowering its head to eat grass was very difficult.
This buffalo was likely attacked by lions or hyenas, separated from its companions, and broke into Parson and Jairo's territory in a panic. At this moment, if lions or hyenas had encountered this buffalo, the buffalo's death would have been a matter of moments.
However, for the cheetahs, catching it was still as difficult as climbing to the sky.
"Want to try?"
Parson lay beside Luo Qiao, his eyes fixed on the buffalo. Although it was a question, there was a firm tone in his words.
"Brother, are you kidding!" Jairo lowered his voice. "Even if it's injured, it's still a buffalo, an adult male buffalo!"
For cheetahs, that was definitely a behemoth!
Luo Qiao did not answer Parson's words, nor did he refute Jairo. He just quietly looked at the buffalo, his mind racing, wanting to eat beef, but it was by no means easy.
Luo Sen and Luo Rui also stared at the buffalo with glowing eyes. They could not fully understand how dangerous this buffalo was. They just instinctively drooled at the prey.
"Dad..."
As soon as Luo Rui raised his head, Luo Qiao had a headache. "Okay, Dad knows, a lot of meat, right?"
"Yes! A lot of meat! Dad is the best!"
The two cubs' four big eyes shone at Luo Qiao, and before Luo Qiao could react, he had already patted his chest and promised his children that they would definitely eat beef!
Looking at Parson and Jairo's strange eyes, Luo Qiao could only silently shed tears in his heart, okay, he was just a parent who spoiled his children, let them do whatever they wanted!
However, the two cubs also gave Luo Qiao an idea, perhaps they still had a chance to catch this buffalo.
The cheetahs retreated from their hiding area. According to Luo Qiao's request, Parson and Jairo searched everywhere for scattered dry branches and broken tree branches.
Luo Qiao picked them one by one, selecting some hard and straight ones with thorns at one end and placing them aside, while the rest were discarded.
The whole process took a short time. They could not let the buffalo notice, nor could they delay and let him regain his strength to escape.
Luo Qiao had seen the Masai people use spears to kill an old lion that attacked livestock.
Unless absolutely necessary, lions and other predators would never attack the herders' cattle and sheep. Only the elderly, who could not hunt at all, would take the risk. And after they succeeded, what awaited them was always the warrior's spear and death.
Luo Qiao could not judge who was right and who was wrong, both were for survival, but now he had to use the Masai people's method of killing lions to obtain food. This made him feel quite ironic.
Shaking his head, throwing away the strange thoughts in his mind, Luo Qiao picked up the seven or eight selected branches and returned to the place where he had found the buffalo with Parson and Jairo. The buffalo was still there, he seemed to be really injured to the point of being unable to walk, but the cheetahs were all aware that he was still very dangerous.
Luo Sen and Luo Rui were asked to hide in the tall grass a little further away, and the two cubs obediently did not make a sound.
Luo Qiao raised a branch, signaling Parson and Jairo to pay attention to his movements. At a distance of less than fifty meters from the buffalo, he threw the branch at the buffalo.
Luo Qiao originally aimed at the buffalo's body, he was not confident enough to hit the buffalo's neck. Parson and Jairo seemed to be surprised by Luo Qiao's whimsical hunting method.
They almost stared as the branch flew out of Luo Qiao's hand, drew a beautiful arc in the air, and then fell, very accurately, towards the buffalo's butt, but was blocked by the thick skin, and slid all the way down the buffalo's strong leg to the grass.
Luo Qiao and the Parson brothers were speechless.
The injured buffalo was puzzled. He looked at the fallen branch in the grass, then looked up at the sky, not understanding why this thing fell from the sky.
"Oops, a temporary mistake..."
Luo Qiao recalled with embarrassment that he had also used a branch to stab a giraffe's butt last time. How could he always create a series of blunders whenever he wanted to use his golden claw?
Parson and Jairo did not laugh at him. The brothers changed their forms, each picked up a branch. Even if the buffalo was slow, he realized that something was wrong.
When he stood up to leave, the real attack came.
Parson and Jairo's strength was not comparable to Luo Qiao's. The branches directly stabbed into the buffalo's body. The branch thrown by Parson even pierced the buffalo's neck!
The buffalo cried out in pain and immediately ran away.
The three cheetahs could not miss such a good opportunity. Parson and Jairo did not need Luo Qiao to tell them, they immediately chased the buffalo, running and throwing at the buffalo.
Of course, not every throw hit the target. After they ran out of branches, the buffalo had four branches stuck in his body, and the old wounds burst, looking like a "blood buffalo" from a distance.
The buffalo ran and shed blood and tears all the way. This was not hunting, it was clearly abusing the buffalo! He understood that cheetahs were more ferocious than lions...
The three cheetahs chased and took advantage of the situation.
Luo Qiao simply picked up anything from the ground and threw it, whether it was stones or branches. The things that hit the buffalo were varied, and he even grabbed a palm-sized land turtle and threw it out.
The land turtle poked its head out of its shell in mid-air, completely not understanding why it suddenly flew into the sky when it was just walking.
As the buffalo's speed gradually slowed down, Jairo changed his form, quickly caught up with the buffalo, jumped from the air, and his claws hit the wound on the buffalo's hind leg hard.
Parson maintained his human form, jumped onto the buffalo's back, and his sharp claws tore open the wound on the buffalo's neck.
The buffalo was already injured, and was tortured by the three cheetahs. He finally fell to the ground, pressing a branch stuck in his side completely into his body. Fresh blood gushed out of the wound, and the grass under him was stained bright red in a moment.
He had never seen such a rogue hunting method, he died unjustly...
Luo Qiao chased the buffalo and the Parson brothers all the way. When he got close, looking at the prey that was only breathing, he picked up a stone, walked to the buffalo, and ended his life.
Parson pulled Luo Qiao over and bit his ear, licking the blood that splashed on his face. "Being with you makes even me become strange. But I like it. So, mate with me."
Luo Qiao covered his ears and turned his head, a string of crows flew over his head. How could he say such a thing with this beautiful face? He couldn't stop talking about that, and they hadn't even eaten yet!
Pushing Parson away, Luo Qiao turned back into a cheetah and ran towards the tall grass where the two cubs were hiding.
It seemed that he had to make plans early and leave these brothers as soon as possible, otherwise he would be in danger sooner or later.
Parson and Jairo stayed where they were, looking at their prey, wary of other predators who might come at any time.
Just as Luo Qiao called Luo Sen and Luo Rui out of the tall grass, Shamu, with her cubs, had entered Parson and Jairo's territory.
Monty, who was annoyed by Luo Qiao, had also left the canyon in the center of the territory and was resting on a fig tree about five thousand meters away.
