Chapter 45 BAC

Become a Cheetah

o0o

In Gamma's memory, when a cheetah encounters a leopard, there are usually a few possible outcomes: If there is no prey, the cheetah will flee to escape the leopard.

If there is prey, the cheetah will have its prey stolen by the leopard and then run away. In worse cases, the cheetah might be beaten up by the leopard and escape with injuries, or even get killed outright.

In none of these scenarios is there a possibility of a cheetah fighting a leopard. However, the reaction of the three-year-old male cheetah in front of her seemed off. The leopard's subsequent words made Gamma narrow her eyes.

A female? Are he talking about me?

Although male cheetahs sometimes have ambiguous relationships with each other, she had never heard of a male cheetah developing a relationship beyond friendship with a leopard.

Seeking excitement like this was practically suicidal!

As the male leopard across from her stepped closer, even though his target was clearly not her, Gamma still felt tense. Lions and leopards were the top predators on the savannah, and compared to them, cheetahs were no match.

According to Luo Qiao's explanation, leopards were mini-bosses, lions were big bosses, and cheetahs were like helpless Hello Kitties, tied up with bows just waiting to be bullied.

Hyenas? They were like packs of vicious NPCs.

The three young cheetahs also sensed the tension. Luo Sen and Luo Rui pressed close to Luo Qiao, their neck fur bristling as they assumed a threatening posture toward Monty.

They still vividly remembered the time when Luo Qiao had been dragged up a tree by Monty. They absolutely did not want their dad to be taken away by this big bad guy again!

Tata, on the other hand, hid behind Gamma, ready to dart into the grass at any moment. Compared to the two raised by Luo Qiao, his reaction was more like that of a normal cheetah cub.

Monty didn't care what the cheetahs were thinking. He simply sauntered toward Luo Qiao, his light golden eyes fixed on Luo Qiao like he was prey. The natural advantages between species became glaringly obvious in that moment. Cheetahs had sacrificed too much for speed, including strength, sharp teeth, and claws, leaving them with no advantage against leopards except their speed.

But even that one advantage was useless to Luo Qiao now. With a family to care for and an injured member, he couldn't just abandon them and run.

So, Luo Qiao could only stand stiffly in place, waiting for Monty to approach, sniff him, and then open his mouth to start licking him.

Once again being harassed, Luo Qiao successfully bristled with anger.

Easily dodging Luo Qiao's claws, Monty simply pinned him down and continued licking.

The vultures seemed shocked by the scene. Could it be that the leopard's target wasn't the prey but the cheetah?

Good heavens, how horrifying!

Gamma's eyes widened instantly as she looked from Luo Qiao to Monty. Her first reaction was to lift a paw and cover Tata's eyes.

"Mom?"

"Ahhh!" Don't look!

Luo Sen and Luo Rui had seen Luo Qiao being harassed before, so compared to Tata and Gamma, they remained much calmer.

As if licking wasn't satisfying enough, Monty shifted forms, scooping Luo Qiao up and preparing to carry him away. Luo Sen and Luo Rui immediately followed, forgetting their fear as they clung to Monty's legs with their front paws, shouting. "Dad, put Dad down!"

Luo Qiao also began to struggle. If Monty took him away like this, he would definitely be harassed again!

Gamma also realized this couldn't go on, but even if she weren't injured, she couldn't stand against an evolved male leopard.

Judging by the situation, the leopard didn't want Luo Qiao's life, he probably wanted to do something else to him. After weighing her options, Gamma glanced back at Luo Qiao, let out a few cries, and dragged Tata into the tall grass.

Luo Qiao was heartbroken. Sister, that's so not cool! Even if you can't help physically, at least offer some moral support!

What's with the look that says "endure it, it'll be over soon"? And what was that glance supposed to mean? "Accept your fate"?

Luo Qiao struggled even harder. Although his front and back paws were tightly held, he still had his mouth. He could bite!

He bit down on Monty's arm, but before he could draw blood, Monty bit his ear, licking it as he did. "Biting me only makes me more excited... You should know the consequences of hunting in my territory."

He didn't want to know, not at all, really!

And, grabbing his paws was one thing, but where was this pervert's paw wandering now?! Damn it!

As Luo Qiao was carried away by Monty, the two young cheetahs followed behind. Gamma took Tata and hid in the tall grass, leaving only the gazelle carcass lying on the ground. The vultures looked at each other, seemingly unable to believe their luck. Was all of this really theirs?

Well, what were they waiting for? Time to feast!

An evolved leopard carrying a cheetah, followed by two young cheetahs—no matter how you looked at it, this was an extremely incongruous scene.

The family of rock hyraxes living on the cliffs saw it and immediately huddled together to discuss the situation. They quickly passed the news to the mongooses hiding in their burrows. Within thirty minutes, even the jackal mother feeding her pups had heard this explosive piece of gossip.

A few bored ground squirrels even made a bet using seeds, wagering on whether the leopard would kill the cheetah or do 'that' to him.

As for 'that', everyone understood.

Monty had originally planned to take Luo Qiao back to the center of his territory, but along the way, he encountered a group of hyenas and a few lions engaged in a brawl.

During the dry season on the savannah, food was scarce, and the predators, hungry and irritable, were more prone to conflict than usual. In such conditions, almost anything could happen. A fight between hyenas and lions wasn’t particularly unusual. It would be far stranger if lions and hyenas were to get along peacefully.

The Galena hyena clan clearly hadn’t yet recovered from the loss of their young. Recently, they had been running rampant, provoking the Hosby lion pride. The lionesses were determined to teach these hyenas a lesson and show them who truly ruled this territory!

The hyenas gathered in small groups, their thick necks bobbing as they assumed an aggressive stance toward the lions. The lionesses, in turn, bared their sharp claws and fangs. The hyenas’ sharp barks continued to summon more of their kind, while the lionesses remained at seven in number. Generally, one lioness could handle three or four hyenas, but with thirty-one hyenas present, the lionesses were at a disadvantage.

But lions were still lions. Their imposing presence and roars were enough to make the hyenas tremble.

Monty couldn’t simply stroll through this battlefield carrying Luo Qiao. He shifted into his leopard form, grabbed Luo Qiao by the scruff, and climbed the nearest tree. Luo Qiao, however, struggled and cried out. "My sons, my children!"

Monty clicked his tongue, hung Luo Qiao on a branch, then slid down the tree and carried the two young cheetahs up to the treetop.

"Stay quiet" Monty growled, his body completely covering Luo Qiao. Luo Qiao quickly gathered Luo Sen and Luo Rui into his arms, lowering his head and making no sound.

A leopard and three cheetahs silently hid in the tree canopy. Neither the hyenas nor the lions noticed them—or if they did, they paid no attention.

Finally, the hyenas let out a series of barks and, relying on their numerical advantage, launched an attack on the lion pride. The lionesses fought back bravely. Zuwa had just shaken off one hyena when her hind leg was bitten hard.

The other six lionesses were also surrounded by the hyenas. The enraged lionesses roared, and the hyenas thought they were on the verge of victory—until a deep, powerful roar shattered their dreams.

A male lion!

The appearance of Nas completely shifted the balance of the battle. Though there was only one male lion, his massive body and powerful jaws struck fear into the hyenas!

Luo Qiao watched the scene unfold with tension. Witnessing the battle between the lions and hyenas made him truly realize that, compared to these top predators, cheetahs had no advantage at all!

Though he had been lucky enough to kill Nali and another hyena, if he were surrounded by a group like this, he wouldn’t stand a chance of escaping.

It was like pitting a marathon runner against a world heavyweight boxing champion in the ring, completely unrealistic.

Monty, noticing Luo Qiao’s wide-eyed stare, rubbed his chin against Luo Qiao’s head and whispered, "Scared?"

Luo Qiao shook his head, unusually calm.

"No." Facing reality wasn’t a bad thing. At least it helped him survive better. Though he lacked strength, he still had his brains… right?

What’s with the ellipsis?!

The two young cheetahs, however, were genuinely frightened. They clung tightly to Luo Qiao, not making a sound.

Monty seemed indifferent to the brawl. When the hyenas surrounded the lionesses, he lowered his body, almost completely enveloping Luo Qiao.

When the male lion Nas charged out and killed a female hyena, Monty had already nudged Luo Qiao’s tail aside and was about to make his move. Luo Qiao suddenly sensed something was wrong and turned his head sharply, only to find Monty about to bite his neck.

He let out an angry cry, "Ahhhhhhh! What are you doing?! You still want to do 'that'?!"

Monty twitched his ears and let out a low growl. "Don’t you think this makes it more exciting?"

"Exciting! You shameless pervert!"

Luo Qiao forgot about the lions and hyenas brawling just a few hundred meters away. He turned and swung his paw, and then… tragedy struck.

The hyenas and lions, in the heat of battle, simultaneously heard Luo Qiao’s cry and looked toward the tree where they were hiding. The two young cheetahs clung tightly to the branches, not daring to move, while Luo Qiao dangled in mid-air, held by his tail.

This was the second time…

Luo Qiao wanted to cry. Monty, now in human form, leisurely held Luo Qiao’s tail, occasionally squeezing his hind paw.

"Well? Will you behave? If not, I’ll drop you."

Luo Qiao glanced at the lions and hyenas staring up at the tree, then at the leopard with a beautiful face but holigan behavior.

Overcome with despair, he struggled and shouted, "Just drop me already, stop talking!"

As he struggled and swung his paws to break free, the lions and hyenas were utterly confused. How did that cheetah climb such a tall tree? And why was he jumping down? Was he bored or something?

Should they continue fighting or go watch the strange cheetah?

In the end, the lions and hyenas, blinded by rage, decided to finish beating each other up first.

Meanwhile, Oros, who had been driven out of the pride by the lionesses, wandered aimlessly near the territory boundary. He happened to run into Felix and Ero, two young male lions patrolling their territory. Seeing the two noticeably larger young lions, Oros’s eyes lit up. Finally, he wouldn’t be bored anymore.
