The Cannon Fodder Character in Four Infinite Flow Novels

Bai Jin stood up and took two steps before spotting a medieval European mirror in the room. He saw his reflection in it.
It was undeniably his own face, but his original short hair had grown long, now meticulously styled and adorned. He tugged lightly at the strands, confirming the hair was genuinely his—just lengthened.
His facial features remained unchanged.
Surprisingly, the long hair and Countess attire didn’t clash at all. Just as described in the book, he looked strikingly beautiful. Bai Jin had never seen himself in women’s clothing before. As he stared blankly at his reflection, the maid beside him asked.
"Madame, is something wrong?"
Bai Jin tested his voice. "The hairpiece feels crooked"
His tone remained cool and clear, still carrying a youthful timbre, but the maid showed no sign of suspicion.
"Let me check for you, Madame."
System was temporarily absent, likely managing Yu Xiaoyu’s body in The Human Elimination Project. Seizing the chance, Bai Jin tried probing the maid for the current plot progression.
"When will the Count return tonight?"
In the story, the dungeon’s protagonist—Count Kellis—had begun noticing the castle’s anomalies: paintings oozing blood, candlesticks shifting on their own, walls emitting eerie noises. Eventually, he realized monsters lurked within and planned to escape.
"The Count hasn’t returned for two days. I’m sure he misses you dearly, Madame. He’s merely occupied with official matters. Shall I play another round of chess with you? Perhaps he’ll return soon."
From her words, Bai Jin deduced the Count had already discovered the castle’s horrors and fled to evade them. The man intended to abandon everything—his castle, wife, servants—keeping only his wealth.
He rode off on horseback, yet after two days of wandering, found himself back at the castle’s gates.
According to the maid’s hint, the Count would resign himself to returning tonight.
Bai Jin picked up a black chess piece. His pale fingers, sheathed in delicate lace gloves, contrasted starkly against the dark stone. Dressed as a woman, his naturally pale lips now glowed crimson, enhancing his beauty.
A faint smile curved his otherwise expressionless face as he placed the piece on the board. The thought of his current role amused him. His lines here were even fewer than Yu Xiaoyu’s. The Count’s perspective in the book focused entirely on terror and hallucinations, leaving the 'Countess' with minimal scenes.
Compared to enduring cold winds in the desolate tribe, lounging in this luxurious castle was far preferable. No wonder System prioritized this scenario, Bai Jin mused. He had little interest in chess and instead pondered his upcoming lines while reviewing the dungeon’s plot.
Noticing his distraction, the maid suggested, "Madame, would you like to visit the garden?"
Garden? Bai Jin latched onto the keyword.
The monsters in this dungeon were the roses, those blanketing the garden and scaling the castle walls.
He turned to the window, where roses crawled over the ledge, their sweet scent permeating the air. Walking closer, he gazed down at the garden bursting with white blooms.
No other plants survived there. The roses had viciously claimed the territory, thriving in oppressive dominance. From the book, Bai Jin knew a skeleton lay buried beneath them, the monster’s core.
"Madame?"
His prolonged silence unnerved the maid. It deviated from the original Countess’s vain, domineering persona, making the servant tremble. But since this moment wasn’t scripted, Bai Jin saw no need to act.
"I’m just tired," he said flatly.
"Would Madame like to rest? The Count will return soon."
The maid mistook his aloofness for longing.
Bai Jin gladly accepted. Thankfully, the dress lacked cumbersome petticoats, allowing him to curl up in an armchair. He closed his eyes, feeling the maid’s hesitant massage on his arms. He hadn’t asked for it, but when he opened his eyes and saw her trembling, she pleaded.
"I’ll serve you well, Madame. Please don’t send me away."
Bai Jin then recalled that as long as the servants were unsatisfactory, this madam would resell them, and this reselling likely meant a bad outcome for those servants.
Therefore, Bai Jin did not chase her away. Just as Bai Jin closed his eyes, he heard the System's voice say, "How is it? Isn't it more comfortable staying here? It's raining over there, all damp and humid."
Listening to the System's tone, which seemed to be seeking praise, Bai Jin smiled and said to it, "Thank you, I feel very comfortable staying here."
"You have even fewer lines here than over there."
"Yes, I know."
"Rest for a while, the protagonist of this book is about to arrive."
And the protagonist of this book, Xie Jingchu, was still buried under the rose bushes.
Bai Jin also remembered that when this madam got angry, she would whip her husband with a riding crop. Because of this, in the end, the madam was directly murdered by her already insane husband, dying a miserable death.
Bai Jin didn't care about this at all in his heart. Anyway, he only hoped that he could quickly deliver his lines and receive his "lunch box" (finish his role and exit the scene), so that he could accumulate more merit points.
Now, let Bai Jin rest peacefully for a while.
Bai Jin closed his eyes. Even when he came to such small worlds, his body and soul would still feel tired. The System would, like this, search in the four worlds for the most comfortable place where no plot was currently unfolding for Bai Jin to rest. He closed his eyes, and soon drowsiness swept over him. The sounds around him became hazy, and he gradually drifted into sleep.
He slept soundly.
The maid massaged Bai Jin's legs for a while, and upon realizing he was asleep, she stopped disturbing the Countess's rest. The maid went to find a soft blanket to cover Bai Jin, then quietly left the room, closing the door slightly behind her. Thus, the entire room became silent.
The beautiful Countess, with her stunning appearance, quietly curled up in the chair and fell asleep, failing to notice the changes in the rose vines that followed. Those rose vines, as if imbued with life, slowly crawled in through the window, covering the entire red carpet. Each of these roses grew perfectly, with even their size and shape showing no variation, which was quite inconsistent with the natural growth of living things.
After rubbing against the carpet, the flower vines made rustling sounds as they began to spread throughout the Countess's room. The fireplace was already filled with roses, and the alcoves were also crowded with vines and flowers. In his sleep, Bai Jin vaguely heard the System's voice.
"That monster seems to have come in. The original story didn't describe the Countess's side of things in much detail, so it's unclear what the monster will do to you."
The System kept trying to wake Bai Jin up. Only then did Bai Jin wake up a little. His drowsy voice said, "Anyway, with the plot master here, Madam still has a plot to follow later. She won't die. Let me rest for a while, I can't die anyway."
It seemed that for Bai Jin, if he wasn't dead yet, his casual remark "it's okay, I can't die" could solve everything. So, coming to this infinite flow world of repeatedly dying after actually dying made Bai Jin even more fearless.
The System still admired Bai Jin's mentality and said, "Alright then," and didn't continue to wake Bai Jin.
Bai Jin continued to sink into his sleep.
However, he still had some awareness and could feel something crawling onto his hand. Tender petals brushed against his fingers, and the fresh green of the vines' leaves twined around Bai Jin's fingertips. Bai Jin thought to himself, this guy wouldn't want to kill me so quickly, would he?
However, before Bai Jin could think carefully, he heard hurried footsteps coming from outside the door. The door was pushed open, and Bai Jin opened his eyes, seeing that his surroundings had returned to normal, and no roses had crawled in. It was as if the sounds he had just heard and the System's warning were all illusions.
Nevertheless, Bai Jin quickly shifted his gaze to the face of the person who had entered.
Count Kellys looked at him with a face full of terror and panic.
The Count stepped forward and said, "Tiffany, it seems we've provoked a monster. My dear."
After realizing that he couldn't escape this place, he finally intended to explain the matter clearly to his wife. He looked as if he hoped his wife could help him.
Count Kellys's legs had gone weak. When he reached Bai Jin, he had already knelt on the carpet at Bai Jin's feet. Bai Jin knew that the segment of the plot he needed to play had arrived. Although he didn't have particularly exquisite acting skills, the anger of being woken up and disturbed would still show on Bai Jin's face.
His cold and beautiful eyes looked at the man kneeling on the carpet.
