Chapter 64 BAC

Become a Cheetah

o0o

Luo Qiao thought catching fish would be simpler than capturing antelope; in fact, he was wrong.

These large fish crowded in the mud looked within reach, but the reality was not so. The catfish's scaleless body was covered with a layer of slippery mucus, leaving Luo Qiao with nothing to grip.

Luo Qiao vented his frustration at the catfish in the swamp mud, while Luo Sen and Luo Rui huddled together, whispering.

"Brother, do you think this is edible?"

"I'm not sure." Luo Sen shook his head. "But if Dad says it's edible, then it's edible!"

"If, I mean if"

Luo Rui licked his lips and said, "I tell Dad, forget it, I'm actually not that hungry. Would Dad change his mind and go catch an antelope or a warthog? Even a hyrax?"

"I think that's a bit difficult."

"Oh."

Luo Rui drooped his ears and fell silent.

For a little cheetah whose eyes lit up at the sight of meat to say such a thing, it showed how unnatural it was for cheetahs to catch fish.

Although they had eaten land tortoises, at least land tortoises lived on land and had legs! As for ostrich eggs, the hatched ostriches also had legs! But this slippery, strange thing, where were its legs?

Luo Qiao didn't notice what the two little cheetahs were thinking; his entire attention was focused on the fish closest to him. He extended his paw, wanting to dig the catfish out of the mud and bite it, but the slippery fish body couldn't be held down at all.

Even his only sharp upper claw couldn't pierce the fish skin. All he got was a mouthful of mud, and he nearly had his paw bitten by the catfish.

After failing several times in a row, the cheetah father turned to look at the two little cheetahs, feeling exceptionally embarrassed.

If before he was just trying it out of curiosity, now Luo Qiao was determined to catch one, there was no room for negotiation!

Having lost face in front of his sons, he would definitely let these fish know how formidable he was!

The catfish crowded in the mud felt very innocent. The mucus on their bodies wasn't aimed at cheetahs; it would be the same for anyone trying to catch them! Besides, as a cheetah, shouldn't he obediently go catch antelope? What was he doing bothering catfish? Had he gone mad with hunger?

Or was this actually not a cheetah, but a variation of a leopard?

My crocodile! This is terrifying.

Luo Qiao told the two little cheetahs to go into the reeds to avoid the scorching sun. He then transformed his form, found a few branches, and after breaking off a fork in one, it looked like a Y-shape, similar to a fishing spear, but more like a snake-catching tool used to pin down a snake's head.

When he found this branch, Luo Qiao did indeed think of this, but what was wrong with that? Anyway, the catfish's head was flat and wide, and its whole body was covered in mucus. This shape of branch was just right.

Returning to the edge of the swamp, Luo Qiao crouched slightly, his eyes blazing as he stared at the fish that had slipped from his grasp several times. You want to run? See where else you can run!

Lying in the reeds, Luo Sen and Luo Rui looked at Luo Qiao and simultaneously developed a certain suspicion. Could it be that catfish was actually delicious?

Luo Qiao didn't have time to understand what the two little cheetahs were thinking. He raised the branch high, aimed at the closest catfish, and thrust down hard!

The position was a bit off, and the catfish slipped through the gap in the branch.

Cheetah Dad VS Catfish, Catfish wins!

He continued to stab, but the tip of the branch still didn't pierce the catfish's skin. Catfish wins again!

Luo Qiao got a little angry, simply threw the branch away, and disregarding the possibility of being bitten, directly used his hands. Unlike his fleshy, furry paws, his flexible fingers and sharp claws directly gripped the catfish's skin. The mud-covered surface of the catfish oozed a small amount of blood as it was forcefully pulled out of the school of fish by Luo Qiao.

Before Luo Qiao could feel proud of himself, the fierce catfish directly slapped him with its tail, leaving not only a red mark on his arm but also splattering him with mud.

Luo Qiao was furious. He pressed the catfish to the ground, picked up a stone, and slammed it hard onto the catfish's head.

The catfish flicked its tail, slam!

The catfish continued to flick its tail, slam again!

The catfish was still flicking its tail, slam once more!

Only when the catfish stopped moving did Luo Qiao cease his brutal behavior. If the catfish had known beforehand that it would suffer such cruel treatment under the cheetah's claws, perhaps it would have found a stone and knocked itself unconscious first.

Luo Qiao tore open the catfish's abdomen, discarded the internal organs, and cut off a piece of fish meat with his sharp claws, putting it in his mouth. Chewing the fish meat felt very different from chewing antelope meat; it was more delicate and had a fishy taste.

Strangely, he didn't dislike this fishy taste. If he were human, unless necessary, he would definitely not want to try eating raw catfish, but as a cheetah, he had to admit that this taste wasn't bad. Or perhaps only he felt that way, who knew?

Catfish had almost no fine bones; after removing the large bones, it could be torn apart and eaten.

Luo Sen and Luo Rui had already come out of the reeds. Watching Luo Qiao eat the fish, the two little cheetahs were also somewhat eager to try. Luo Qiao wasn't in a hurry to give them any. He waited a while longer, making sure he didn't feel any discomfort, before tearing the fish meat into several pieces and placing them in front of the two little cheetahs.

Luo Sen and Luo Rui poked at the fish meat with their paws. The color and texture were very different from what they usually ate, but they still mustered the courage to take the first bite. Just like Luo Qiao, the two little cheetahs also found the taste acceptable.

Indeed, like father, like son? If it were Shamu and hilda, they would definitely not touch this fish meat. They would not only swat away the fish meat but also swat away Luo Qiao along with it.

Even if catfish meat contained a large amount of water and protein that cheetahs needed to obtain from their food!

With the first successful experience, things went much smoother afterward. Luo Qiao no longer smashed the catfish's heads to pieces but ended their lives more quickly, tearing the fish meat into strips and feeding them to Luo Sen and Luo Rui.

The jackal, drawn by the scent, was startled by the scene before him. A cheetah eating fish?!

Although jackals that have the opportunity to forage by the sea will eat young seals, those are mammals after all!

The three cheetahs before him were actually eating fish?!

The jackal felt his worldview had been overturned. Or was he dreaming? He had to go home immediately! His dear Narissa and the children would bring him back to his senses.

The jackal, a follower of the cheetahs, left on his own without being driven away. Compared to cheetahs eating fish, which was the stranger thing?

The gossip on the plains would have new material.

A few fish couldn't completely satisfy the three cheetahs, but Luo Qiao didn't plan to catch any more. After all, catfish wasn't a regular food for cheetahs, so it was better to be cautious. The food he had eaten was enough to replenish his strength so he could find the next meal.

Luo Sen and Luo Rui were still a little unsatisfied, helping each other groom their fur. Luo Qiao carefully licked his fingers, his tongue brushing against his slender digits, the honey-colored skin forming a stark contrast with the red hue.

If there was a mirror in front of Luo Qiao, he would definitely smash the entire thing after seeing himself in it. That fellow squinting and licking his fingers in such a blush-inducing way was not him, absolutely not!

Did one really get used to licking one's "paws" after eating, after being a cheetah for a long time?

But unfortunately, the only ones who saw him like this were the two little cheetahs and the catfish in the mud. Luo Sen and Luo Rui didn't find anything strange about their dad's behavior.

Wasn't it normal to lick one's paws after eating? Look, weren't they licking their paws too? As for the catfish in the mud, who could expect a fish to find a cheetah charming? That was even more unrealistic than expecting a tortoise and a rabbit to become bosom buddies.

Having cleaned himself up and found a shady spot to rest for a while, Luo Qiao planned to take the two little cheetahs away from the lion's territory.

As the three cheetahs reached the border of Oros's lion pride's territory, Luo Qiao discovered the tracks of a warthog. It was an adult female warthog. He didn't know if she had any young, but Luo Qiao was determined to catch her.

Luo Sen and Luo Rui were not full. Fish meat contained a lot of water and would be digested quickly. He had to find food.

But what Luo Qiao didn't expect was that while he was tracking the warthog, a male lion followed behind him. He was the leader of the pride, Oros.

Oros was here by chance. He should have been with the pride, but the lionesses had once again expressed their dissatisfaction with his rough temper, especially his attitude towards the cubs, which had angered the lionesses into kicking him out of the pride.

"What if Hosby's lions take the opportunity to cause trouble?"

Oros tried to reason with his wives. They couldn't just drive him away like this.

"Oh, you don't have to worry about that at all. We have ways to deal with it. Or are you hoping to see the charming Zuwa again?"

Communication failed.

A complete failure.

Oros had no choice but to resign himself to leaving the lionesses and cubs, as well as the unfinished buffalo. The depressed lion king could only patrol his territory, hoping that some ignorant hyenas would come out so he could vent his frustration. But things developed unexpectedly. The hyenas didn't appear; instead, he encountered that unique cheetah.

Oros stopped in his tracks, standing in the tall grass, looking at Luo Qiao, who was clearly tracking prey. He hadn't seen him for a while, and this cheetah seemed to have grown a bit, but he was still just as thin.

The lion king shook his head, his thick mane making him look exceptionally burly.

Luo Qiao was focused solely on catching the warthog and completely didn't notice Oros following behind. A sudden change in the wind direction exposed Oros's presence.

Luo Qiao smelled the lion's scent!

Turning his head sharply, Luo Qiao was horrified to find that the strong male lion was less than three hundred meters away from him!

"Heavens!"

Luo Qiao recognized Oros. Every time he encountered this lion, nothing good ever came of it!

Luo Sen and Luo Rui were clearly frightened. No one wouldn't be scared by a burly, obviously ill-intentioned male lion, not even Luo Qiao. But Luo Qiao didn't have extra time to be afraid. He had to find a way to escape immediately!

The father and sons absolutely couldn't run in the same direction, or they would all be in big trouble. No matter what the lion's purpose was, Luo Qiao would never let Luo Sen and Luo Rui be in danger.

"Dad will lure him away. You guys run towards the rocky hill in the territory!"

After a brief explanation, Luo Qiao didn't wait for the two little cheetahs to reply. He faced Oros. He didn't run, but tensed his body and jumped up, which made him look a bit bigger, but this had no effect on the lion at all.

Luo Qiao got closer to Oros. It wasn't until the distance between them was about fifty meters that Luo Qiao turned and ran.

The method worked again.

Oros directly chased after Luo Qiao, while Luo Sen and Luo Rui used the cover of the tall grass to run towards the rocky hill in the territory.

Luo Qiao wasn't sure if Oros was the only one here, but he didn't have a better option at the moment. He could only lure him away first, so that Luo Sen and Luo Rui would have a chance to escape. However, Luo Qiao subconsciously ran towards Monty's territory border, a fact that even he didn't notice, let alone Oros.

Monty was currently locked in a fierce battle with a male leopard that had invaded his territory. This male leopard was no match for him. The intruder had an injured hind leg, several wounds near his neck, and a bite wound on his back near the spine. Just a few more centimeters, and his spine would have been severed by Monty.

But leopards were naturally cunning and good at hiding, so finding this male leopard in his hiding place and killing him wouldn't be easy. Especially the male leopard's desperate counterattacks also made things tricky for Monty.

Two equally strong male leopards faced each other on the grassland, heads lowered, baring sharp fangs, using low growls to demonstrate their strength and ferocity to each other.

The difference was that Monty was more dominant, while the other male leopard was clearly putting on a brave face.

Monty once again adopted an attacking posture towards the intruder. He even prepared a fatal blow. The opponent seemed to want to fight to the death, but before Monty pounced, he turned and ran again.

Monty pursued closely behind him. The two leopards quickly reached the border of the territory, where they encountered Luo Qiao and Oros chasing behind him.

Monty saw Luo Qiao and Oros, and the male leopard he was chasing also saw them.

Luo Qiao's situation was a bit bad. After running for so long, he had consumed a lot of energy. If he couldn't shake off Oros, he would one hundred percent be caught by him! As a result, he hadn't shaken off the lion, and now he had encountered that male leopard who had snatched his prey...

If he had to describe Luo Qiao's mood at this moment in one sentence, it would be that things couldn't get any worse, only more so!

Could he be any more unlucky?

When God closes a door for others, he at least leaves a window open, but for him, not only was the door closed, but even the window was blocked.

Damn it! This was too much!

Monty also noticed Luo Qiao's perilous situation. He was caught between the injured leopard and Oros. Neither of them was someone he could handle.

Monty decisively gave up on killing the leopard that had invaded his territory. Instead, he sped up, passed him, and directly rushed in front of Luo Qiao, biting his nape and throwing him onto his back.

"Hold on tight!"

Luo Qiao instinctively transformed, his arms wrapped around Monty's neck, and his legs clamped around Monty's waist.

Monty turned and ran. The injured leopard didn't dare to intercept him. The only thing he needed to do was find a way to shake off that damn lion! The fastest way was to find a tree and climb it!

The male leopard that had invaded Monty's territory thought he was temporarily safe. He thought Monty, who was being chased by Oros, was doomed. He now had to find a safe place to hide and recover from his injuries. Unexpectedly, after just a few hundred meters, Beatrice suddenly sprang out of the grass behind him.

The male leopard, severely injured and having lost a lot of energy, didn't notice Beatrice following him at first. By the time he realized it, Beatrice had already bitten through his spine.

Female leopards generally don't provoke male leopards, especially strange male leopards. It's very dangerous, and the difference in size and strength can cost them their lives. But the male leopard before Beatrice was worth the risk; he was no threat at all.

The result proved that Beatrice was right.

"Humph!"

She had been following behind Monty and this male leopard all along. Monty was chasing the intruder to defend his territory, but Beatrice was doing it for her two cubs. She had to ensure that this male leopard could no longer pose a threat to her cubs, so he had to die!

Flicking her tail, Beatrice was very satisfied with her victory. As for Monty, who was entangled with the lion, who cared? If he was killed by a lion so easily, then he wasn't Monty.
