Chapter 83

Every Day the Villain Continues to Fail [Quick Transmigration]

o0o

Shang Chi, as a young and renowned psychiatrist, naturally couldn't spend all day hiding in his office secretly cuddling a cat.

Although he was reluctant to part with the little kitten, Shang Chi maintained his last bit of rationality, put on his white coat with an indifferent expression, and left to do his rounds.

In an instant, the spacious office was left with only Ruan Yao, a lonely little cat.

The zipper of the pet carrier was quietly nudged open. A fluffy, snow-white paw tentatively stretched out from the narrow gap, and a pink paw pad excitedly waved twice in the fresh air.

The opening grew wider, and a small silver-gray kitten tumbled out of the bag with a soft "thud"

Ruan Yao’s round little head accidentally bumped against the corner of the desk. Fortunately, his thick fur cushioned the impact, preventing him from seeing stars.

With a startled twitch, he hurriedly scrambled up and pounced on the spare white coat hanging on the wall.

The hook couldn't support the weight of a flying kitten and let out a tragic creak. The white coat and the little kitten fell to the ground together with a soft "plop"

"Meow!"

A puff of white smoke burst into the air around Ruan Yao with a sudden "whoosh"

As the smoke gradually dispersed, left behind was a delicate, bare-skinned youth—wearing nothing but an oversized white coat, complete with a pair of cat ears.

The sudden transformation into a human left Ruan Yao completely stunned. He sat on the ground in a daze, his wide eyes staring at his own raised arms in shock.

Shang Chi was much taller than Ruan Yao. Wearing Shang Chi's coat, Ruan Yao found that the sleeves had become adorably oversized, extending far past his fingertips.

Before Ruan Yao could even demand an explanation from the system about why he had suddenly turned into a human, two knocks sounded at the door.

Ruan Yao froze, watching helplessly as the door swung open.

A handsome man in a hospital gown stood at the doorway, frowning slightly. "Doctor Shang..."

His words were cut short by a moment of stunned silence.

The silver-gray-haired youth, tinged with a soft milky-white gradient, looked back at the intruder in sheer panic. His ocean-blue eyes shimmered, and his exquisitely delicate features seemed as if they had stepped out of an anime.

He was wearing nothing but an oversized white coat, and in his arms, he clutched a fluffy silver-gray tail, hugging it tightly as if it were a lifeline.

The fur on his tail was standing completely on end.

"You..." The man was someone accustomed to life’s storms, yet seeing such an ethereal-looking boy appear before him in such an unexpectedly seductive manner seemed to momentarily rob him of the ability to form words.

At the exact moment the man had pushed the door open, Ruan Yao’s ears had flattened in fear, his soft pink cat ears disappearing into his hair.

However, as his initial panic subsided, the man clearly saw a pair of pointed, fluffy ears sprout from the top of the boy’s head.

In that instant, despite his materialistic worldview, the only thought that crossed his mind was: What kind of toy is this? This level of intelligence is insane.

Shang Chi was truly a man of deep-hidden depths. He always presented himself as a serious and dignified professional, yet behind closed doors, he was apparently into something this outlandish.

However... the man’s frown deepened. He had a naturally imposing face, one that exuded authority without effort. The way he looked at Ruan Yao was so intense that it nearly made the youth yank out his own fur in fright.

Glancing down the hallway to confirm no one was nearby, the man closed the door before stepping toward Ruan Yao.

Ruan Yao trembled as he stared up at the man, who was nearly twice his size. His mind had gone blank, and he had completely forgotten to run.

The man crouched down to meet Ruan Yao’s gaze, deliberately softening his tone. However, it only made Ruan Yao even more terrified—his long, silver-white eyelashes quivered, and a single, crystal-clear teardrop rolled down his cheek.

The man immediately panicked and gentled his voice further. "Kid, be honest with me. Are you at least eighteen years old?"

He had already steeled himself. Though Shang Chi was an excellent doctor, if this boy in front of him wasn’t of legal age, he would personally see to it that the beast got locked away.

Ruan Yao blinked at him blankly, his deep-sea-blue eyes shimmering like stars. After a long pause, he finally spoke in a soft, delicate voice, "I'm an adult"

The voice of explanation was soft and gentle.

At that moment, a mix of complicated emotions surged in the man's heart.

For one, he was relieved that the young man had not suffered any harm, but at the same time, he felt a slight twinge of jealousy toward Shang Chi.

It was a strange feeling, this young man was someone he had just met for the first time, while Shang Chi had been his attending physician for over a year.

Ruan Yao anxiously looked at the man, reaching out to grab the hem of his clothes. "You won’t tell him, right?"

The man was taken aback.

Ruan Yao’s mind spun rapidly as he desperately squeezed out two pitiful tears, putting on an innocent, delicate expression. "To be honest, I’m actually Doctor Shang’s admirer"

The man: "Huh?"

"I've been pursuing Doctor Shang for a long time, but he never accepts me. I had no other choice but to sneak over here and…" A shy flush appeared on the young man’s face before quickly turning into disappointment. "Who knew I’d be caught by you?"

He blinked his big eyes and tugged at the man’s sleeve again, making him feel even softer inside. "You have to keep it a secret, okay?"

The man coughed, trying to clear his head, and helped Ruan Yao up from the ground.

When Ruan Yao transformed into human form, he had been in such a panic that he had only managed to grab one of Shang Chi’s white coats to wrap around himself. As he stood up, the coat loosened, revealing skin as smooth and delicate as jade.

His body was perfectly proportioned, slender yet well-shaped.

Under the bright daylight, his skin held a faint, luminous sheen like fine jade.

Caught off guard, the man’s gaze landed on Ruan Yao’s soft pink areas, and his first instinct was to whistle.

He stiffly turned his head away, but he couldn’t help thinking—how could someone be flawless from head to toe like this?

"Kid, there's something I have to tell you" For some reason, the usual teasing demeanor he showed toward young nurses just wouldn't come out in front of Ruan Yao.

Looking at Ruan Yao’s innocent and clueless expression, the man even felt a tiny bit guilty.

"Even if you like him, you shouldn’t use this kind of method"

Ruan Yao thought to himself, It’s not like I wanted this either, but what choice do I have when I turned into a ragdoll cat?

The man had only intended to advise the young man to turn back before it was too late, but when he opened his mouth, the conversation unexpectedly veered off course. "Do you know that Shang Chi is completely indifferent to these things?"

Now it was Ruan Yao’s turn to be confused. "Huh?"

The man clenched his fist and gave a deliberate cough, pretending to be serious. "What I mean is, this kind of approach won’t work on Shang Chi. He’s a complete workaholic who only cares about his career. He won’t be easily tempted by beauty"

Ruan Yao thought to himself, I don’t just know he’s a workaholic—I also know he’s an incurable cat fanatic. The hopeless kind.

Ruan Yao played his role well, putting on a determined expression. "But I really like Doctor Shang. I don’t want to give up my chance to try"

But trying shouldn’t involve putting on such an intense uniform seduction act in front of a doctor!

Standing there completely naked except for his white coat in an office would make anyone think of all kinds of inappropriate movie scenes!

The man wanted to righteously condemn this behavior, but what came out instead was: "Are your colored contacts uncomfortable?"

The man: ???

After Ruan Yao transformed into a human, people often mistook him for a seductive flirt with large, ocean-blue contact lenses. The man in front of him clearly thought the same.

There was no way Ruan Yao could just take out his contact lenses on the spot to prove otherwise. Stammering, he said, “It’s… it’s fine. I’m used to it”

The man’s gaze grew even more sympathetic.

Ruan Yao had a nagging feeling that the man had misunderstood something, but he couldn’t explain it even if he wanted to.

Forget it. Let this misunderstanding last until the end of time.

Ruan Yao remained expressionless.

After exerting an enormous amount of effort to coax the man into raising his hand and swearing not to tell Shang Chi, Ruan Yao’s human transformation time expired.

So frustrating.

In a hurry, he scrambled into the pet carrier. Ruan Yao struggled with the zipper for quite some time before finally restoring everything to its original state in secret.

When Shang Chi returned, everything was exactly as he had left it, the spotless desk, the pet carrier on the floor… and a white lab coat inexplicably draped over the back of a chair.

A glint of cold light flashed in Shang Chi’s eyes as he reached out and picked up the crumpled coat.

Ruan Yao, trembling with fear, peeked through a gap and watched as the man expressionlessly plucked a strand of creamy-white cat fur from the collar. The fine strand of fur swayed in the air between his fingertips.

It was over.

Ruan Yao didn’t dare to look anymore.

“Host, you can relax. There’s no way Shang Chi would ever suspect that you turned into a human and wore his clothes. After all, he’s a top student who’s been immersed in twenty-eight years of materialist philosophy”

That was easy to say, but just last night, Shang Chi had dreamed of being kissed by a beautiful young man who had transformed from a ragdoll cat.

It was difficult for him not to have some thoughts.

His sharp gaze locked onto the little cat sitting stiffly inside the pet carrier, sweating bullets beneath its composed facade.

How amusing.

When Shang Chi took Ruan Yao home after work, they ran into the man in the hospital gown again.

“Dr. Shang” The man greeted him simply. Seeing Shang Chi’s usual serious and upright demeanor, a hint of surprise flickered across his face.

“Officer Zhao, how have you been feeling lately?” As the man’s attending physician, Shang Chi naturally cared about his mental state.

Not to mention, when he had done his rounds that afternoon, the man had been nowhere to be seen.

Probably off somewhere flirting with the young nurses again.

But the man’s gaze had already shifted to the pet carrier in Shang Chi’s hand.

From the moment they ran into him, Ruan Yao’s feline instincts had sounded an alarm. Nervous, he buried his little face into his own fluffy scarf.

Whenever Shang Chi was with the little cat, his mood improved significantly. He lifted the pet carrier slightly for the man to see. “I adopted a ragdoll cat”

Ruan Yao could feel that sharp gaze piercing straight through him.

“Meow~” The little cat let out a soft, timid cry, prompting Shang Chi to bring the pet carrier back to his side.

“Ragdoll cat?” The man was not very familiar with cat breeds, but he did find the little cat’s colors somewhat familiar. Almost instinctively, he took out his phone and searched for images of Ragdoll cats.

Silver-gray long fur, large sea-blue round eyes, a small pink nose.

It perfectly matched a certain cat-eared youth.

A glimmer of contemplation flashed through the depths of the man’s eyes.

“Sys… System, who is that person?” Ruan Yao trembled as he lifted his pink paws, his big tail tucked under them for comfort.

The system pulled up the data and fell silent for a moment.

The sense of unease grew stronger.

“He is the main protagonist, Zhao Lin, captain of the Criminal Investigation Division at Longshan Police Department. A year ago, during a firefight with a criminal organization, a colleague took a bullet for him, making him the sole survivor of that brutal incident”

“As a result, he developed severe PTSD and has been undergoing rehabilitation treatment at Longshan Sanatorium, which is also how he became acquainted with Shang Chi”

Ruan Yao felt even worse now. QAQ
